Did you know we lived in Hawai’i??? We made it our home in 2014! We fell head over heels in love with island life, the local people, culture, & food. We even had an island baby while living there!
Virginia will be our new home for the next 4 years, but not before heading back to the islands to get all of our stuff. Yup, our four bedroom home worth of stuff was waiting for us in a 10×25 storage unit, a motorcycle, & a vehicle – all needed to be shipped off island. We headed to O’ahu last week, sans kids, & somehow got it all done within 5 days! It was a mad dash full of obstacles, but we were intent on carving out some time to take in the island before leaving.
Because our trip was so short & packed full of a lot of boring stuff like paperwork, we didn’t get to do too much of the fun stuff. So we had to make sure that the fun stuff was some kind of amazing! Like, we couldn’t just do the beach – we had to do a lava tube first and then the beach!
I love that I could tell my husband to stand or sit anywhere for a photo & he would. He’s pretty much the best.
One of our top to-do items on the list was a beach cleanup. So we made sure to stop by the Ka’iwi Shoreline to help an awesome local organization called 808 Cleanups. This group does some amazing work – check them out here! And if you ever find yourself on O’ahu, please visit their events page & volunteer some of your time hanging out with them. They are some of the nicest humans you will ever meet.
How we will miss the aloha state! Wish we had more time to explore & share our experiences, but I know in my heart we will end up there again.
